BOD candidate drops from race
May 1, 2001
Before the first day of campaigning wrapped up, Chris Ramsey-Corry had already dropped out of the ASUW elections.
Ramsey-Corry, a freshman premajor running for one of seven Board of Directors (BOD) positions, decided to drop out of the race in lieu of an offer to become a resident adviser (RA) in Lander Hall next year.
"After talking to several people in Housing and Food Services, I knew I could do both positions, but would the quality I could commit to both positions -- would I have that? My personal belief is that if you're doing something, you do it 110 percent. I didn't feel like I could commit to both," he said.
Despite his withdrawal, Ramsey-Corry plans to stay involved in student government by joining the student senate next year.
He said he is not sure if he will run for any ASUW government positions next year, but felt that trying to fill both positions would compromise his abilities as an RA and as a BOD member.
"I'd rather commit to one and have it be great, rather than do them both and have them be OK," he said.
