Watch your words
In response to the April 30 issue of The Daily in which Kwik writes about her quotation, which she did not wish to have printed: I find it highly ironic that she writes to The Daily in complaint. It is not always clear when someone is joking unless it is explicitly stated to listeners. Perhaps Kwik should be more cautious about the words she employs in conversation, and even more so with a reporter. If you don't want something quoted, don't say it. For now, the damage is done and what was printed cannot be unprinted. Perhaps Selena was too "kwik" in her words.

Christians should respect personal boundaries
I am no less than disgusted with the recent "Do You Agree With Lynette and Joe" phenomenon currently circulating around campus. Don't get me wrong: although I am not Christian, I don't hold anything against the religion, nor the people who practice it (including my entire family).
However, I am enraged with the constant in-your-face become-a-Christian-because-it's-best attitude I've been witnessing lately, but I could even let that pass! What really gets me is the ads for the barbecue on Monday, April 30. The Daily had an ad printed for a week of Christian events, one of which is this barbecue (also associated with our pals Lynette and Joe). Now no more than 24 hours ago did I receive an ad slipped under my door in Terry Hall advertising the very same barbecue, and at the bottom it read: "Sponsored by RHSA, Haggett People's Council, Terry Hall Council."
Is it just me, or is this a little mixing up of church and state? And on top of that, I don't like the idea of University housing sponsoring events that are very specific to one religion -- ESPECIALLY when housing costs continue to shoot up $350 a year. Again, I don't hate Christians, I just hate the fact that certain people can't grasp the idea that I'm not one, and have no interest in joining their club.

Clarification on the Golden Briefcase
The feature entitled "UW Business Students Win 'Golden Briefcase'" contained a quote regarding UCLA that I feel was placed in an unfair context.
I did not refer to UCLA's efforts in regard to the Challenge for Charity competition as competitive overkill as the article suggests. The UW's MBA program was just as focused on winning the competition as UCLA or any of the other business schools represented.
UCLA's student leaders and the Anderson School of Business headed a commendable effort in support of Special Olympics this past year. Their team efforts on the field in sports were an inspiration to everyone at the Challenge for Charity Weekend.
