The Washington women's golf team tied a school record with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA championships with a four-day total of 1,226. Its memorable tournament at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Club was capped by an 8-over 296 in the final round.

Junior Kelli Kamimura finished one of the greatest seasons in UW women's golf history with a 2-under 70 Friday. Her tournament total of 11-over 296 was good for a 29th-place finish. Both NCAA tournament finishes broke school records, held by Angie Burkett, who finished 33rd with a 302 at the 1995 NCAA championships. Kamimura won twice this season to move her career total to four, the most in school history.

Sophomore Louise Friberg finished 77th with a 23-over 311, and sophomore Michelle Grafos placed 88th with a 313. Freshman Lindsay Morgan, who fired a 2-under 70 in the second round, shot 85 Friday to finish 102nd. Senior Elisha Au, playing in her final collegiate event, finished 40-over par to place 114th.

The Georgia Bulldogs won the team title with a 24-over 1,176. They fired the lowround of the tournament, a 2-over 290, on Friday to slip past top-ranked Duke and win the national championship. The Blue Devils finished in second just three shots back. Texas placed third and Auburn took fourth.

Duke's Candy Hannemann won the individual title in a one-hole playoff over Arizona's Lorena Ochoa. Both shot a 3-under 69 in the final-round and finished the tournament at 3-under 285. Ochoa three-putted the first playoff hole while Hannemann notched a par to win Duke's first-ever individual title.

The Huskies return everyone except Au next season and look to improve on their record-breaking finish.
