The Husky volleyball team snapped its three-game losing streak last night, as the UW spanked the Beavers while on the road. The win brought UW to 8-9 in the Pac-10, and 16-10 overall. The Beavers (2-15, 7-19) gave the Huskies a scare early on by taking game one, but the Huskies responded and won the next three games by at least nine points.

Husky senior Paige Benjamin led the way with 27 kills, as the Huskies out-hit the Beavers with a .358 hitting percentage to OSU's .210.

The Huskies look to wrap up their regular-season schedule tonight at Eugene against Oregon. The Huskies face a weak Ducks team that has only managed one conference win this year, and was destroyed the last time the two teams met in Seattle. Regardless of the outcome of the Ducks match, this year's Husky team has been the most successful since their sweet-16 team of 1997. A win over Oregon would put the Huskies at .500 in the Pac-10 for the first time since 1997.

Yesterday, Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hanson named Huskies' Paige Benjamin, Kara Bjorklund and Libba Lawrence to the conference All-Academic team. For Benjamin, it was the third time in her career and first time as a first-team member. For Lawrence and Bjorklund, it was their first time.
