Get your freak on
October 30, 2003
Since it is currently easier to throw a kegger in McCarty than it is to walk across the street on Greek Row, here's a list of things to do this Halloween night.
If you just can't wait until tomorrow to break out your costume, head over to Club Medusa tonight. It is throwing a Pimp n' Ho Ball with DJ Princess Superstar. Hos are free until 11 p.m. Check out www.clubmedusa.us for more information.
The biggest all-ages party in the area is definitely going to be Freak Night 7 presented by USC Events at Seahawks Stadium. Paul Van Dyk is the headlining act on an all-techno-trance-house bill. Tickets are $30 through Ticketmaster.
For the more rock-oriented, there are two shows worth checking out. To rock out early in the evening, check out Rufio at the Graceland. The show starts at 5:30 with Motion City Soundtrack, Acceptance and Over It as opening acts. Tickets are only $10.
If you still need more pit time, move over to the Vera Project at 8 p.m. Alien Crime Syndicate is headlining a show with Schoolyard Heroes and Kane Hodder. It's only $7 at the door.
Anyone with an extra $75 can head to either the Masquerade Ball at the Seattle Art Museum or the Felliniana 8 1/2 Halloween Party at The Big Picture. The Masquerade Ball starts at 9 p.m. with live music by Plan B and Flock of DJ. Felliniana features a private screening of 8 1/2 and a conversation with the film's star Barbara Steele.
For those 21 and over, there are a number of bars hosting events around the area. Clubs and bars in the U-District have parties and contests planned. Start at 50th Street Northeast and work your way down to Finn MacCool's.
If you are willing to head Downtown, Pioneer Square is going to be your best bet. The $12 for 12 clubs cover will get you into the Angels & Demons party at the Fenix Underground, as well as Seattle's biggest R&B party at the Bohemian Nightclub.
Although it's not part of the 12-club ticket, the celebration at The Last Supper Club will also be huge. Jagermeister is sponsoring its Halloween party this year with $3 jagers all night. Electronica is the music of choice with Dahlia and Joshua Ryan spinning all night. The club also offers a $500 prize for the best costume.
Radio station 96.5 The Point is hosting a Masquer-'80s Ball for all you '80s addicts. Come as your favorite '80s character or singer and rock out to all the classics. Tickets are $21. Call (206) 623-1445 to sign up.
If none of these work out for you, there are always the trademark haunted houses and house parties around the area -- and maybe, just maybe, if we all ask nicely enough, the police will take a night off and let UW students all have a great Halloween.
