Last week UW seniors Brad Walker and Paige Benjamin were honored as UW's recipients of the Pacific-10 Conference Medal. The award, given out at the athletic department's annual Academic Convocation, honors the school's top student-athletes.

This year, Walker took the NCAA indoor pole vault title with a Pac-10 record vault that ranked as 2003's third-highest indoor mark in the world and the second highest by an American. A two-time Pac-10 champion and three-time NCAA All-American, Walker graduated from the UW this month with a 3.5 G.P.A. and a degree in business administration.

Benjamin captained the women's volleyball team in 2003, leading the Huskies to an NCAA tournament appearance. Having maintained a 3.8 G.P.A. in accounting, Benjamin has been named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team for three consecutive years.
