Meschak Moondance Lefcourt entered a guilty plea to murder in the first degree in court yesterday for killing an Ave. resident, according to Dan Donohoe, spokesman for the King County Prosecutor's Office.

As part of the plea, Lefcourt admitted to killing Sammy Raught, a barber who lived in the Kennedy Apartments on the Ave. Raught died from "homicidal violence caused by multiple stab wounds" in mid-November, according to court documents.

Judge Steven Scott will sentence Lefcourt August 8 in King County Superior Court. Lefcourt's sentence will range between 21 years and nine months and 28 years and 11 months, Donohoe said. He added that prosecutors will recommend a sentence of 25 years.

Christina Rogers pleaded guilty to rendering criminal assistance in the first degree May 21 for helping Lefcourt evade police in November. The two were arrested in Minnesota. Rogers is serving a yearlong sentence in jail, Donohoe said; however, she has received credit for serving 206 days.

Sam was a dear friend of mine and I did not hear of his death until 2006. It is a shame, he was a wonderful friend and I will always remember him! We worked together in a Salon and he was truly gifted at hair among other things. I have many fond memories of Sam. I wish this man would have thought about his actions before doing this and taking away our beloved Sam!
