Rick Neuheisel is working on retaining his job, his lawyers claim after meeting with UW officials yesterday. Last Saturday Neuheisel attended the Rick Neuheisel Football Camp at Husky Stadium, stating he loves football.

Yesterday evening at 5pm Neuheisel addressed the football team, according to Jim Daves, sports information director.

Neuheisel's lawyers are do not want a settlement. They will appeal Barbara Hedge's decision to fire him with "just cause" must take place by tomorrow.

His lawyers, Jerry Crawford and Bob Sulkin, were hired after the termination on June 13. Crawford is an NCAA expert from Ohio who is chairing senator John Kerry's (D-Mass) campaign for president. Sulkin, of Mcnaul, Ebel, Nawrot, Helgren & Vance in Seattle, is Neuheisel's trial lawyer.

"I believe that when everything is seen and all the evidence emerges, that your views of Rick Neuheisel will be much different, and he will be vindicated," said Sulkin in The Seattle Times.

If the appeal is not successful, Neuheisel will be responsible for paying back a $1.5-million loan he received last September, and will remain ousted from Husky football.
