Oregon's candidate for the next Miss America Pageant is a UW alumna.
April Robinson was crowned Miss Oregon 2003 Saturday night, winning a $10,000 scholarship and eligibility for September's national competition in Atlantic City, N.J. The 22-year-old also won a $400 scholarship for tap dancing, which she wants to pursue professionally. Robinson, who was Miss Seafair in 2001, graduated from the UW in March with a bachelor's in political science.
Fianna Dickson was crowned Miss Washington 2003 on July 5. At 24, she holds a bachelor's from Gonzaga University and a master's from Eastern Washington University.
