Tyler Ashby, an offensive lineman from Seattle's Ballard High School, committed to the Husky football team last week.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 300-pound prospect is UW's fourth football commitment for 2004. Prior to signing with Washington, Ashby had attended Washington State's team camp, but had not fielded an offer from WSU or Oregon, his other choices.

Ashby, whose recruitment was largely due to offensive coordinator Keith Gilbertson, told The Seattle Times that he was not bothered by the controversial dismissal of coach Rick Neuheisel. Gilbertson, who is serving as the team's interim supervisor, is expected to take over the position of head coach once Neuheisel's termination process is completed.

"I look at it as, I'm playing for [Gilbertson] anyway, plus I'm playing at home," Ashby told the Times.
