Huskies get Flowers from California

While last week it was still tentative who would be named head coach of the Husky football team, the uncertainty did not hinder their recruiting efforts.

The Huskies added Nathan Flowers, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman from Chula Vista, Calif., to their list of commitments for 2004. Flowers, who has experience with the offensive and defensive tackle positions, is the fifth commitment the Huskies have received since Rick Neuheisel's firing on June 11.

Four of the past five commitments have been linemen including this month's commitment from Ballard's Tyler Ashby.

Flowers is a huge prospect, and not just because of his size. Big time programs were looking at Flowers before he decided on becoming a Husky, even though many recruiting services ranked him only a one or two-star athlete.

Flowers received interest from UCLA, Oregon, Texas Tech, and Arizona before signing up with UW. San Diego State also had offered him a scholarship.
