Juice makes for tasty sports

I'm on steroids.
Yup. Me, a writer for The Daily is on the juice. But then again, who isn't these days? Boy, are they helping. My writing has improved dramatically since being on the juice.
OK, so maybe I'm not a user. But that doesn't mean I haven't thought about it. If I could pump up and improve my writing, I'd consider being a 'roider.
If athletes at any level start using drugs to enhance their game, that isn't accepted by people. Well, most people.
President Bush, in his State of the Union address, discussed his stance against use of performance-enhancing drugs.
"To help children make right choices they need good examples," said Bush. "Athletics play such an important role in our society; but, unfortunately, some in professional sports are not setting much of an example."
Speaking of entertainment, that's what performance-enhancing drugs are doing for sports. Steroids are making sports much more exciting and entertaining.
Many watch sports for entertainment and will disregard everything else, like drugs, if they are entertained.
Sports is a business and people will go out of their way to make money and keep a paying public coming back for more.
Do you think baseball bigwigs were upset when musclemen (the muscles came from years of training ... right?) Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire obliterated the home-run record?
If steroids are taken away and start every major leaguer gets tested, it'll be a great season. I can see it now: in late September, A-Rod and Bonds will be neck-in-neck for the home-run crown with seven apiece.
That'd make for entertaining ball.
Some people, like our president, think steroid use sets a bad example for children and is ruining the integrity of sports. America seems so upset at this recent steroid blowup. It appears fans don't want to see a ball player pump out 100 homers some day.
Fans would rather see sports being played on a level playing field than witness spectacular home-run races.
Right. Keep telling yourself that.
But as long as we're entertained, steroids can be pushed to the back burner. As for me, if you're not a fan of this column let me know so I can go get juiced.
