Nate Robinson to return
June 21, 2004
Husky men's basketball star Nate Robinson announced last Thursday that he will be returning to the UW for his junior year. Robinson, who declared for the NBA draft on April 7, announced his intent to withdraw from the draft just hours before the 2 p.m. deadline.
As one of last season's first-team All-Pac-10 players, Robinson will be returning to high expectations. During Thursday's press conference, Robinson stated his intent to "[go to] the big dance again to try and win it all."
Robinson said he was influenced by St. Joseph's Jameer Nelson, last season's national player of the year, who drastically improved his draft stock by returning to college for his last year of eligibility.
Robinson's return means the Huskies will be returning all but one of the members of last season's 19-12 team, including the entire starting lineup. Only guard Curtis Allen, who was a senior last year, will not be back for the Dawgs.
