Another whirlwind week ahead

Last week was officially the best club spectacle Seattle has seen in the new year. With so many shows it was almost impossible to do anything meaningful and still have a nightlife.

I'm especially proud that almost all the shows I mentioned were packed to capacity. Please pause to give yourself a pat on the back for making all of this possible. Before you think that rock 'n' roll is going to pause and give you sleep, read on, for this week is shaping up to be a doozy.

Tonight, the Scissor Sisters, a huge hit in the United Kingdom, will be performing at the Paramount Theater ($20, all ages, show at 8 p.m.). They will be performing their part glam rock, part throwback tunes in a show that is not to miss. If you haven't gotten your benefit fix yet, then head on over to Neumo's for a rockin' concert from the Supersuckers as they perform to raise money for the 45th Street Homeless Youth Clinic ($10, 21 and up, show at 9 p.m.). If indie rock is your bag, head over to the Crocodile for a set from Aqueduct, the Catch and Dolour ($7, 21 and up, show at 9 p.m.).

Friday night has a little something for everyone. My pick for the night is the show happening at the Husky Den with Pretty Girls Make Graves ($5 student, $10 general, show at 6 p.m.). The show is in celebration of the second birthday of RainyDawg, UW's Internet radio station. If you're of legal age to consume alcohol, then head on over to Chop Suey for a set from DJ whiz-kids Q-Bert and Jazzy Jeff ($15, show at 9 p.m.). If you're into hip-hop or turntable-ism, this is a show you absolutely cannot miss.

Saturday night looks promising for laughs and indie rock. Michael Ian Black, that guy from the "I Love the (insert decade)" series on VH1, will be bringing his comedic shtick to the UW's Meany Hall ($10 student, $15 general, all ages, 8 p.m.). Be warned, word on the street is the show is sold-out, If you're into hardcore or punk head up to Neumo's for The Explosion and Death By Stereo ($10, all ages, show at 6:30 p.m.) Chop Suey will be hosting another hip-hop night with Latyrx and others ($12, all ages, show at 7 p.m.). The Vera also has a great show headlined by Akimbo, the Ruby Doe and Fall of Troy ($8, all ages, show at 8 p.m.).

Wednesday night has the first event that might distract you from catching up on your beauty sleep. Judge Jules, one of the premier British house DJs, will be spinning a live set up at Chop Suey for those 21 and up ($15, show at 9 p.m.). Seattle's own drum 'n' bass goddess, DJ Eva, will be opening up the night. If you need to get your rocks off in the middle of the week, this will surely be the place to do it.

Well, that's not everything, but it is all that's fit to print. Until next week, enjoy the shows.
