As we get ready to move into the New Year and start a brand-new quarter, it is essential to liven up the spirits of our interiors during the cold winter season. You don't need to splurge to make your room classy and sophisticated -- the goal isn't to magically furnish your triple room in Lander Hall into a penthouse. Focus on picking the right accessories that will dress up the room and make living in it more organized, fun and stylish. Here are seven items picked to help you get a jumpstart on what you should be looking for to give the bedroom a facelift without costing a fortune.

This clear vinyl clothes storage system is perfect for organizing and storing seasonal clothing. The transparent vinyl allows for easy wardrobe planning, while the breathable bottom panel allows for air circulation, which keeps clothes fresh. Light and portable, this is a must have for the shop-a-holic who constantly needs more storage space.

SIGNE Rugs from IKEA ($1.99 each)

Colorful and inexpensive, these gorgeous rugs will add life and freshness to your mundane room. The fun frills on the end and the mellow multi-colored stripes add a touch of fun to your floor. This hand-woven piece of art is a definite must have.

Place the shorter one on your side table, and the taller one next to your full-length mirror to help make make-up application much easier.

And if decor isn't on your personal wish list, remember that the holidays are the season of giving. Think warm, toasty and practical this holiday when shopping for friends and love ones -- no more of those snowflake pajamas and the Santa Claus stuffed toys that are as over as third grade! Choose something that can last through the year and be useful, rather than knickknacks that will work for just a couple of weeks in December.
