Morrison staying home
Standout Gonzaga sophomore Adam Morrison will not follow teammate Ronny Turiaf into the NBA draft and will return to Spokane for his junior year. Morrison was the Zags' leading scorer and was an All-American honorable mention last year. Gonzaga finished 10th in the final polls before being upset by Texas Tech in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Texas Sen. Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio, wants to keep his state's college football teams from playing in any BCS bowl games. Ironically, the BCS benefited the Texas Longhorns last year, awarding them a spot in the Rose Bowl that under the old system would have been given to California. Wentworth's bill would prohibit Texas' NCAA teams from playing in "an intercollegiate post-regular-session competition that is part of a series that includes a national championship game unless that competition is part of a national playoff system."
