Nate Robinson traded to New York, signs contract
July 6, 2005
Shortly after the Phoenix Suns selected Nate Robinson with the 21st overall pick in last week's NBA draft, they traded him to the New York Knicks, who signed the former UW guard to a 2-year contract worth about $2 million. Robinson and guard Quentin Richardson were traded for forward Kurt Thomas.
More good news for Robinson is that there will be one familiar face on the squad in New York. Former Rainier Beach High School standout Jamal Crawford, who was a teammate of Robinson's during the 1999 season, will be there to welcome Robinson to the pros.
Former Huskies Will Conroy and Tre Simmons didn't wait long for their pro career to begin after going undrafted last week. Conroy got the call from the Atlanta Hawks after the draft, and the Los Angeles Lakers picked up Simmons. Both will join their new clubs' summer teams.
