Player of the Game

Offensive: Wide reciever Sonny Shackelford with 9 catches, 120 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Shackelford had a career day, posting new highs in both catches and touchdowns to help lead the Huskies back from an early 16-0 deficit.

Defensive: Linebacker Dan Howell with 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 1 touchdown.

Two weeks after the death of his father, Howell grabbed an interception with just over six minutes remaining and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown, which gave the Huskies a 29-19 lead.

Turning Point

On the first drive of the second half, the Huskies had the ball at second and two on the UCLA 46-yard line. The handoff to Kenny James was good for 3 yards but UCLA's Dennis Keyes knocked it loose. In the scramble, Washington tackle Ben Ossai came up with the ball, preserving the Huskies drive, which ended in a 33-yard touchdown pass to Sonny Shackelford and moved UW to within two points of the Bruins.

Injury Report

While C.J. Wallace, Scott White and Mesphin Forrester were all out for a few plays, there were no significant injuries in the game.

Notes

The Huskies" win against the Bruins, in which they came back from being 16 points behind, is the seventh biggest comeback in Washington history and second biggest comeback at home. The longest was a 24-point comeback against Cal in 1988.

Isaiah Stanback's three passing touchdowns on the day were a career high. His previous mark was two.

Coming into Saturday, UW opponents had scored all 10 times they had entered the red zone with seven touchdowns and three field goals. The Bruins went inside 25 times, but only scored one touchdown, settling for three field goals and giving up an interception to Mesphin Forrester.
