Dave Barry's Violent Anti-Terrorist Commentary. Last we saw him, humor columnist Dave Barry had retired to an undisclosed location, making just a few brief appearances to promote his book Dave Barry's Money Secrets. Unbeknownst to the general populace, however, Barry has been hard at work saving the world from the uber-seriousness of Fox's hit drama 24. Each week, while Kiefer Sutherland further perfects his scowl, Barry updates his blog ([HTML_REMOVED] blogs.herald.com/dave_barrys_blog/24 [HTML_REMOVED]), calling foul when the writers get sloppy ("I know I have asked this before, but: Doesn't it seem odd that there is so little panic in the streets of Los Angeles following a nuclear freaking explosion?") or just pointing out the obvious ("Chloe looks like somebody cut the cheese. But this normal."). One need not be a fan of the show to appreciate much of the humorist's insightful commentary. After "Kumar from Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" [not the character's real name] gets roughed up in his suburban home, Barry defends the injury-causing furniture: "When coffee tables are outlawed, only terrorists will have coffee tables." Truly it can be said that, were Dave Barry's writing to be indefinitely detained, the only thing we would have to fear would be gravitas. Well, that and Kim Bauer.
