Seattle police investigate possible assault suspect

A man charged with two University District robberies in December may also be linked to the Jan. 8 assault on a UW student, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Seattle police are investigating the possible connection between the crimes.
Seattle police officers on duty would not comment on the investigation.
On Jan. 16, police searched the residence of a “person of interest” in the robberies in the 5000 block of 15th Avenue Northeast. The police found clothing items similar to those worn by the suspect in the Jan. 8 assault and seized several items, including three hammers and a cell phone, according to the P-I.
Seattle police arrested the suspect Jan. 30 and charged the man with the two December robberies. He was released Feb. 19 after posting bail.
The student was assaulted with a hammer the morning of Jan. 8 as she moved her car near Northeast 47th Street and 18th Avenue Northeast. She suffered a fractured skull and remains in the hospital undergoing reconstructive facial surgery, said Norm Arkans, executive director of media relations at the UW.
The man has not yet been charged with the Jan. 8 assault.
