Rants —

A Red Cross boat carrying rice, drinking water and other international aid supplies for the cyclone-ridden Myanmar sank Sunday. The death toll for the country is now more than 28,000.

A Washington Post investigation uncovered a pattern of medical neglect suffered by foreign detainees held in U.S. custody.

Raves —

About 4,000 Seattle motorists will receive parking ticket refunds after the city reached a settlement agreeing to pay back those who were unlawfully ticketed on certain holidays.

Scientists have created a new kind of hearing aid. The Lyric, which rests inside the ear canal, is less intrusive than typical hearing aids.
