WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF ASTHMA?
University of Washington researchers are seeking 18 to 59 year olds to participate in a study about the causes of asthma. The study consists of up to six visits to the UW Medical Center. The first two to three visits involve diagnostic tests for asthma. During the next two visits sputum is collected. On the final visit a medical procedure called a bronchoscopy is conducted in which a doctor will use a lighted tube to look directly into the air passages and take several small samples of the lining of the air passages. Compensation of up to $285 is provided for participation.
Volunteers must be diagnosed with asthma by a physician, capable of exercise on a treadmill, and have no other major health problems. For more information contact the Study Coordinator at

Lactobacillus and UTI Prevention
We are seeking symptomatic women ages 18- 40 with at least one bladder infection in the past 12 months to evaluate a new method of
prevention using probiotics.
The study will involve treatment of your current UTI, urine and vaginal cultures collected in the clinic and use of an experimental therapy
(a vaginal suppository) to be used at home. Some participants may receive a placebo suppository (inactive substance without lactobacillus). There will be 4 visits over 3 months. All visits will be at Hall Health Primary Care Center.
